Diamond Slurries for Lapping & Polishing
Saint-Gobain Surface Conditioning’s Amplex diamond slurries are available in water- based and oil-based formulations for lapping and polishing a variety of materials.
Saint-Gobain has developed a water-based alpha alumina and diamond slurry which has proven itself to be an excellent polishing agent for hard materials. It can be used to produce superior surface finishes on electronic components and wear parts made of tungsten carbide, silicon carbide and other advanced structural ceramic materials. Our Research and Development group determined that if fine polishing diamond is added to nanometer sized alpha alumina, there is a synergy between the two polishing agents. The result is Nortron Polishing Slurry that can polish hard materials efficiently. Nortron is highly recommended for lapping and polishing of ceramics, crystals and sapphire.
Physical Characteristics
Nortron Polishing Slurry is comprised of individual crystallites of nanometer sized alpha phase alumina in precise proportion with discreetly sized fine diamond powder. A pH of 10.0 - 10.5 is maintained for maximum performance.
The presence of the alumina material also permits effective recirculation of Nortron Polishing Slurry.
Designed for lapping and polishing ceramics and sapphire, Saint-Gobain Surface Conditioning's oil-based slurries are made from highly refined, precision-graded diamond powders. The O854 series provides aggressive cutting action during lapping, with lubricants to help reduce scratching and damage to the work piece. Safe to work with, Saint-Gobain’s oil-based slurries comply with EPA and OSHA requirements.
- O854BS Slurry
Saint-Gobain O854BS is a unique diamond suspension slurry that can suspend very coarse particles at a relatively low viscosity. It provides a fast material removal rate and controlled surface finish.
- O856LVS Slurry
Saint-Gobain O856LVS is a semi-suspension, oil-based diamond slurry that produces a superior surface finish when lapping and polishing ceramics and other hard materials. O856LVS can semi-suspend up to 50 µm diamond and works particularly well on harder plates such as cast iron.
- O854US Slurry
Saint-Gobain O854US is designed specifically for lapping of sapphire on copper plates. A low viscosity slurry, O854US earns rave reviews from customers for its unique suspension properties and aggressive cutting action.
