A pioneer in the development of seeded gel abrasives, Saint-Gobain offers high-performance polycrystalline alumina particles for a variety of polishing applications.
Our groundbreaking technology produces a grain with a unique nano-structure composed of extremely uniform, sub-micron crystals. Under stress, the nano-structured crystal network allows micro-fracturing, continually exposing new cutting edges that keep the particle sharper than conventional abrasives for longer-lasting abrasive performance.
Saint-Gobain will recommend the best-performing particle for your application or work side-by-side with you to develop a positive interaction in your formulations. We offer polycrystalline alumina particles in aqueous form with a pH from basic to acidic, particle sizes from 100nm to 2um, and solids loadings from 20% to 45%.
Saint-Gobain’s 9246 is an alpha alumina particle with fundamental crystal size ranging from 50 to 100 nanometers in aqueous form. The unique composition of extremely small and high agglomerated strength crystals offers cost-effective polishing with a high-quality surface finish on most materials.
Saint-Gobain’s fourth-generation polycrystalline alumina particle utilizes proprietary processing knowledge to produce a nano-scale alpha alumina particle with spherical shape. This value-added product is manufactured via our patented polycrystalline alumina processing technology and results in fine spheres with a crystal size of 150 to 250 nanometers.
The tightly sized particle distribution minimizes both fine and coarse particles, making this an excellent choice for low-defect, high-precision polishing applications. Offered in either basic or acidic aqueous suspensions for the ultimate in dispersion, 7992 is also offered in dry powder form.
