Saint-Gobain Surface Conditioning's calcined aluminas are processed single platey crystals with tunable phase and physical properties. Our calcined aluminas are manufactured from high-quality calcined alumina feed stock and designed with tight particle size distributions for an optimal scratch-free finish. For the ultimate finish, we offer a wet processed product that further reduces the degree of primary crystal agglomeration.
Calcined alumina offers a lower-cost option to our premium seeded-gel alumina while maintaining relatively high polishing rates and good surface finish. The platey shape and hardness of this abrasive grain allows it to perform well when lapping harder materials.
Saint-Gobain offers both dry and wet processed calcined alumina in a wide selection of particle distribution, solids concentration, pH regime and purity that can be custom engineered to meet your material removal rate and finish requirements.
Saint-Gobain Surface Conditioning's industrial grade precision alumina is manufactured from high-quality calcined alumina that is air classified to achieve tightly sized distributions. The single-crystal alumina platelets lay flat during lapping to provide extremely high cut rates and lower surface roughness values when compared to both fused aluminum oxide and competitive calcined aluminas. Our engineered classifying equipment ensures a product with controlled and reproducible sizing.
Saint-Gobain's 7920 is available in a wide range of average particle sizes from 1um to 40 micron. Our ISO-certified manufacturing and classification process ensures narrow particle size distributions and superior coarse grain control.

Saint-Gobain Surface Conditioning's sub-micron calcined aluminum oxide particles (99%+ purity) are suspended in aqueous solution, designed for use in electronics and industrial slurry applications. They are offered with minimal additives and are intended as the particle additive to your polishing slurry formulations.
Our sub-micron calcined alumina particles are available in aqueous solutions from 0.28 to 2um at solids loading 20–55% with pH 3.5-8.
